NB : If you hesitate between 2 sizes, better take the bigger one.

Bracelet size
To find your bracelet size, measure your wrist with a string or a tape measure at the largest point, without tightening.
People generally choose a model 1 or 2 cm over the measured size. But the way you wear your bracelet is up to you.
Some like to wear it large to make it move while others like it tightened and perfectly fit so it won't follow their moves.
From 17 to 19 cm it is a small size (S)
From 19 to 21 cm it is a middle size (M)
From 21 to 23 cm it is a big size (L)
This list is meant as a guideline. Measurements and correspondances are given for information only.
Maintenance and cleaning
A jewel is fragile and its lifetime depends on the maintenance you provide.
Here is a non exhaustive list of actions to avoid to ensure your jewel longer stays in the condition you bought it
- Do not bring into contact with an alcoholized substance (hairspray, perfume) or cleaning product (detergent, bleach)
- Take off your rings when wahsing hands : soap can get in the cavities and won't be eliminated by a quick rinsing.
- Do not wear your jewelry while in bath, swimming pool or sea, or practicing sports, in order to prevent shocks. Same for housework and gardening.
- To prevent frictions, it is recommanded to avoid unnecessary sliding of pendants on their chains and wearing several rings on one finger.
- Keep your jewelry away from strong heat source, X rays or radioactivity.
- Some colored gems fades when worn at intense sunlight or tanning salon. Take them off before exposal.
- Clean your jewelry with a soft cloth and specified products.
- Do not use any liquid product to make silver shine. These kinds of products are very corrosive and will irreparably damage mother-of-pearls and gems. Moreover, silver darkens much faster afterwards.
Storing your jewelry
To avoid friction between your jewels, protect them individually.
Each item should be store in its box or individual pouch, or in a separate compartment of a jewelry chest.
Chains and necklaces must be closed, laid flat and enveloped.
Never store several jewels together without protection.
On trips, simple tissue paper is enough to envelop them.
The best way to avoid your jewels to darken is to wear them. Indeed silver might darken or go yellow due to oxidation.
Jewelry routine maintenance
To keep shiny, your jewels need to be clean.
Except for pearls, you may clean them yourself with warm soapy water, delicately brushing with a soft little brush – an old toothbrush would do the job. There also are special cleaning products.
Thoroughly rinse with warm water and wipe dry with a soft cloth.
However, water and soap ARE NOT recommended for ambers, corals, emerals, jades, lapis-lazuli, opals and turquoises.
The best way to avoid your jewels to darken is to wear them. Indeed silver might darken or go yellow due to oxidation.
Silver darkens with time. Is that normal ?
Due to oxidation and depending on your skin Ph, silver might darken or go yellow with time.
That is normal. If you want to bring back their shiny aspect to your jewels, use the adapted products..
Technical glossary
What is a certificate of authenticity ?
A certificate of authenticity certifies the authenticity of a jewel and of the gems or pearls in it.
It involves the one who wrote and delivered it. It ensures the buyer that the jewel is in conformity to the details given at the jewelry.
At FrenchTouch Jewelery, your invoice is your certificate of guarantee.
It indicates for each jewel its details, size, material, etc.
What is silver 925 ?
What is silver 925?
Silver is a « soft » precious metal. This is why it must be combine to a « harder » metal to avoid distortion and marks.
Silver 925/1000th is a combination of pure silver with a « harder » metal, usually copper.
The 925/1000 rate means your jewel is constituted of 92,5% of pure silver. A punch validates the standard.
What is solid silver ?
Solid silver is the common name for silver 925/1000th.
What is a Zirconia ?
A zirconia, also named zirconium oxid, is a quality synthetized gemstone simulating the brilliance of diamond..
What does gold-plate means ?
Two types of gold-plating are used :
Vermeil, the most used in Jewelry, is made of 3 fine silver sheets covered with 5 microns of Gold using rolling process : 3 thousandth of Gold are required for a jewel.
Galavanic or chemical coating is also often found in Jewelry : it then is called Gilding rather than Gold-plating.
Gold-plating is a coat of gold of 5 to 10 microns, offering a beautiful colour. It provides a thicker coating that the 2 coats of Tin (titanium) and the gold veil used in a PVD treatment (gilding).
A light colour alteration can occur in case of partial oxidation of the free copper atoms. Strong heat, high level of humidity and high rate of polluting agents such as sulphur dioxid are the main causes for these color changes.
What is a PVD steel ?
Physical Vapor Deposition is a process used for coating metal. Titanium, chrome and/or aluminium are used pure or together. Their vapor is then deposited on electrically conductive materials.
The deposition is proceeded in a vacuum room (150° to 500°) thanks to cathodic arc.
One or more coats can be deposited in one cycle. Moreover, colors can be added to the material : to do so, the metal vapor is brought into contact with other gases. The reaction produces oxides, nitrides, carbides or carbonitrides.
With this process, the coat thickness will be of 0,8 to 1 micron – which is called « coloration ».
PVD is extremely lasting and highly anticorrosive. It protects jewels from frictions, sea water, perspiration and weather.
Nevertheless, PVD treatment cannot prevent deep scratches. They will be even more visible due to the color difference.
What is steel 316 L ?
Stainless austenitic steel is structured with the well-know 18% CHROME 8% NICKEL alloy.
The chrome and nickel rates can be higher to improve the resistance to corrosion.
Supplementary elements such as molybdene may also be added.
Austenitic steels are also non-magnetic and cannot suffer thermic treatment. Cold forming and cold working are the only ways to work these steels, and they must be proceeded quickly.
Then steel can regain its original state if re-cooked.
This method is sometimes used to replace thermic treatment.
That type of stainless steel is the most important and is therefore widely used.
It resists corrosion in many situations and is mainly used in food, dairies, breweries and other transformation industries, as well as in some chemical industries and of course, jewelry.
What is titanium ?
It is a transition metal : light, strong, of white color and resistant to corrosion.
Titanium is mainly used in light and strong alloys, and its oxid is used as a white pigment.
The industrially interesting properties of titanium are its resistance to corrosion, often associated to resistance to erosion and fire, its biocompatibility, and its mechanical properties (resistance, ductility, fatigue) that allow to shape fine and light items.
The alloy made of 90% titanium, 6% Aluminium and 4% vanadium is very light and resistant. It is commonly used in surgery for prostheses since it is biocompatible (even its dust is safe). Allergies to this metal are extremely rare.
Its anodizing (electric treatment) provides very interesting metallic colors, such as black.
Not being a coloration « into the solid », it can alter by mechanical shock (friction or scratch) or under the effect of saliva (tongue piercings lose their color in weeks then showing the raw metal).
